Gadget Addicted Society

If you sit down and look at how much a day you use the computer, your cell phone, MP3 player, or some other kind of gadget, you just may be amazed as to how much time you spend. We used to go on vacation to get away from the computer, but now we just take it with us but in a hand held version- mobile phone.
Many people have some kind of smart phone that they can use to access email and internet. This means your work is always with you. No vacation unless you turn everything off. No computer. No cell phone. No iPod. No digital book reader. No gadgets period.
It's really hard to do if you think about it. There are so many people who have to check their Facebook at least once a day, some multiple times a day. Twitter. Myspace. Whatever.. There are tons of online social websites that I couldn't even begin to name, but people are on them all the time.
People have lost relationships over playing WOW (World of Warcraft). What about Jennifer Aniston who (by rumor) broke up with John Mayer because of his excessive use of Twitter; who knows if that's actually true, but rumors get started somewhere.
Either way, we just can't get away. Sometimes you just have to turn off the computer and pick up a book or play with the dog. I know there have been many instances where I've been exhausted but couldn't tear myself away from searching the internet for nothing in particular- just searching.
Life goes on around us and we need to shut off electronics once in a while to smell the roses. I know that's cliche, but everything is about electronics. If it's not one thing it's another, and because technology is getting more and more advanced, we're getting more dependent on it.
Learn math by using pencil and paper, not a calculator. When doctors don't know how to do a simple procedure without their high tech equipment, there's a problem, and when the procedure is on Twitter step-by-step, that's a whole other problem.
