This super low cost laptop is going to be unveiled on February 3, 2009, as a part of the Indian country's $10 laptop project. Basically a callaborative team between the Ministry of Science and Ministry of Technology in the Indian goverment has produced this laptop project.
The laptop is inteded for education usage, but according to an unofficial source the laptop will have 2GB of memory, an ethernet and WiFi connectivity, the ability to expand storage, and low power requirements.
What isn't clear is how the price is so low. Although, the price is still being worked out, it's a pretty impressive feat to have a laptop priced at $10. The Indian government believes that right now the price will be $20, but after being released, the price will come down to $10.
India actually rejected the OLPC XO-1 because the price of $20 was too much to cover a full-scale project. So, the government invested in e-classroom technologies. They are planning on subsidizing internet connections for every school.
