Motorola Droid X

June 28th 2010 18:19
Category: Mobile Phones
The Motorola Droid X is to be released July 15 for $199.99 with a two year contract, $29.99 smartphone fee for unlimited data, $20 WiFi functionality, and a $100 rebate. This phone is quite pricey, but if you're already a Verizon user, then you know they're pricing is typically quite high.

The phone is supposed to be the iPhone 4 killer, but every time something gets released to be something else's killer, it really doesn't work. The Palm Pre was meant to be the last iPhone killer, but we all saw how that one went. The HTC EVO is probably a better iPhone killer than the Motorola Droid X will be, but only time will tell for sure.

The Motorola Droid X will include some of the following features:
* Measures 5 in. long, 2.6 in. wide and 0.4 in
* 8-megapixel camera
* 720p video capture
* HDMI out
* 4.3-inch screen, 848x480 display
* WiFi hotspot for up to five devices
* Multitouch
* Pre-loaded with SWYPE
* GPS and Bluetooth
* 3 mics--for video and voice cancellation
* 8GB storage
* Comes with a 16GB microSD card
* Droid 2.1 operating system
* Flash 10.1 support
* DLNA streaming
* Texas Instruments 1GHz ARM processor
* 512MB of memory
* Built-in Wi-Fi hotspot (or what Verizon calls the 3G Mobile Hotspot)

The phone's speaker is above the glass and the small menu, which includes home, back, and search buttons, are below, above the mic pinhole. The volume controls are on the top, right edge , the camera shutter is below, and on the left edge, you'll find the mini-USB jack and a mini-HDMI jack.

The non-glass surfaces of the cell phone are rubberized, which offers a comfortable feel.
