A vendor at work was telling me about his holographic keyboard, and I had to check it out. He was right. It's true, and it's in the works... Well, has been for a while, but they're just too expensive to be released in mass market to the public because not many people would purchase one due to the price, no matter how cool they are.
Basically, this sci-fi looking device is real and it actually works. the i.Tech Virtual Keyboard is purely holographic. It is Bluetooth- enabled and can connect to just about any computer system, including laptops, PCs, PDAs, Pocket PCs, and even smartphones, as long as the computer system is Bluetooth- enabled.
The keyboard is projected via infrared onto any flat, opaque surface, by using a special detection technology that is able to record the keys that are pressed by your fingertips. The data is sent towards the connecting computer system to record the information.
The keyboard is ultra- portable because the projector is only 9x3.5x2.5cm. The projector runs on batteries that last about 120 minutes of continuous typing.
The keyboard is visible in strong light, and can even show it's true power in the dark, as well. You have the ability to change the intensity of the projected infrared rays of the i.Tech Virtual Keyboard so that you can alter the visibility to your liking.
And, to get the effects of using a physical keyboard, the i.Tech Virtual Keyboard is fitted with sound effects that mimic pressing real keys.
