Apple once had a steady $10 fee for application downloads for the iPhone, but now the App Store is seeing pretty steady price cuts. The $10 premium is no longer, it is no replaced with $2 and $3 application prices.
Even the most popular applications have dropped 19% in price over the last two months. Today the average price is $2.55 per application. A month ago the average was $2.78, and two months ago, it was $3.15. So, as you can see even the most popular apps are suffering... Well, Apple is suffering, the general consumer is not.
You will not find any apps in the App Store priced at $9.99. Toward the end of 2008, there were five applications priced at $10, but not any longer. Even premium apps are priced at $5 now.
It's thought that the developers are now making up for lost sales volume by dropping the price, which is smart especially after the Christmas rush of buying iPhones and iTouches.
So, definitely make sure that you check out the App Store for those games and applications that you're been wanting but haven't wanted to pay $10 for.
