Overhyped Gadgets

Every year companies release gadgets and gizmos that go big. They are marketed as huge innovations to the technology world and to your home environment, and they're just those need to have items that you really don't need to have. And, you know as well as I do that all manufactures like to market their new products as the most innovative thing of all time, which means that it's definitely a must have this year, but that's just not always the case.

There have been a number of gadgets that can be labeled as such, and just a few of them are below. If you have any other suggestions of items that you thought you needed to have or that are marketed as need to have, but really aren't as such, then leave me comments as to some items and gadgets that you think fall under this category.

Now, remember that just because I don't think that you really needed the new iPhone, doesn't mean that you really didn't need it. I mean, you may think my Blackberry is crap, and your iPhone the most awesome thing on the earth, so just take the following items with a grain of salt, and add your gadgets.

Segway Personal Transporter

Even with the high gas prices this past summer, the Segway Personal Transporter isn't the solution to any problems. Dean Kamen, did create a rather interesting product, but where we all expected the gadget to float, it just moves like an electric wheelchair. Maybe one day, we'll see a true gravity defying gadget that will be worth it and a true need to have item.

Palm Foleo

The Palm Foleo had people wanting more when we heard about the Bluetooth capabilities, Wi-Fi, full QWERTY keyboard, and all the other cool features, but once released, this gadget just fell off the map, and personally I haven't heard from it since,

Apple iPhone

Although, the Apply iPhone is a pretty good product and has created other companies to spruce up their own line of cell phones, but it's not worth the price. The Apple iPhone just isn't all that. I mean, yeah so man people are in love with its technology and features, but at the same time its release disappointed so many who waited in stores to be one of the first to have one.

Optimus Maximus Keyboard

This keyboard truly proves that looks just aren't everything. Although, the Optimus Maximus Keyboard looks pretty cool, when tested it's pretty hard to use comfortable and effectively in every day life. Plus, the price of the keyboard is outrageous. I mean if you have one and you like it, then that's your thing, but eh it's so not worth and and it's definitely not a need to have item.

Microsoft Zune

With the world of MP3 players expanding and growing popularity, the Zune has been one of those products that was supposed to knock the iPod out of the waters, but it didn't do quite that. Although, the Zunes are still pretty cool, they're not even on the top pick list of MP3 players. Personally, their best feature is the price.

PlayStation 3

This was a gadget that I knew wasn't going to be as popular as expected. The PlayStation 3 marketed and marketed before their released, which to me wore it down. I knew there had to be something wrong. I mean first off the games had to be reconfigured and there are so many bugs just to start. The one good thing about the PS3 is that they play blueray DVDs and they're much cheaper than regular blue ray DVD players.

Amazon Kindle

Ok, so I'll admit I want a Kindle, but you'll probably never see me with my own. The price is too high, and personally regular paper books are so much more fun and captivating, but you may be the type to prefer electronic and in that case buy it. But, along with so many others, I think you'll be much more pleased with $359 worth of paper books and magazines than this electronic device.

Apple MacBook Air

Although, there are many good things associated with the MacBook Air, I haven't been convinced. I mean, it's just not the most user fixable laptop. If you break or crack one little piece of the laptop, you have to replace the whole thing, nearly. One cracked corner is going to cost a few hundred bucks because the base is one solid piece. Plus, it's just way too thin and easy to break. These laptops are thought to last just a few years before they need to be replaced, and for the price, I'm definitely not buying one that I know isn't going to last.

Honestly, Whitney. I wouldn't mind to buy a Segway Personal Transporter for my father since he can't barely walk after a seriously injury in a horrible accident...

By the way, I think it would be better, if you make the eight overhyped gadgets into ten here, just my 2 cents opinion

I mean, the segway is pretty cool, but it was marketed as being better than it really is, which is why it makes the list. It's one of those that is marketed as a need to have, but for so many it's not. I think in terms of people with walking problems, it would benefit those people unless the person/people has/have problems with balance.

Yea, I know... 10 would be better. :-/ Leave it up to any readers to fill in any blanks.
