Palm just released the Pre in June 2009, but towards the end of 2009, they’re releasing the Pixi. It’s going to be lighter and thinner than the Pre. It’s also going to include GPS and 8 GB memory, but the Palm Pixi isn’t going to have Wi-Fi, like the Pre does.
The Palm Pixi will have an exposed QWERTY keyboard and a 2 MP camera. There won’t be a slideout for the keyboard, which will help reduce the slippery top portion that the Pre develops over time and use.
The price is going to be announced closer to the tip of avaialbility, which Palm has promised around the 2009 holiday season.
The Pixi will feature a new Facebook application, as well as the capability to link information from Google, Facebook, and Microsoft Exchange. Yahoo and LinkedIn information will be added in time.
Where the Pre competes mainly with the iPhone, the Pixi will compete with BlackBerry devices and the Google Andoid system, to include the HTC Hero.
You’ll even be able to purchase limited edition back covers, and the Palm Touchstone can be used with the Pixi.
