Sprint is finally getting a cool phone, and I'm excited. I have been a huge Blackberry fan for a while now, but since it looks like Sprint isn't getting any of the new Blackberries anytime soon, it looks like I'll have my eyes set on the new Palm Pre.
There are a number of advantages to the new Palm Pre that make this cell phone superior to the iPhone. For instance when you open up different applications, they appear as "cards." the cards and be set in the center or they can be zoomed in. When you turn the phone, the active screen auto-adjusts the card so that it always reads correct; the entire backscreen doesn't turn, just the application card. When you have an application open, and you need to scroll, you'll find that the scroll is so much faster and smoother than any phone on the market, including the iPhone.
Many will find that a huge benefit and advantage with the Pre is that the OS platform pulls from the internet and Wi-Fi and it's all melded into the framework of the phone. And, when using the browser, it typically takes about 10 second to pull up an entire page.
* There is a pull-out full QWERTY keyboard.
* You can preview songs before purchasing them when using the Amazon app, similar to the G1.
* The 3.0 camera is pretty good even in places where the lighting isn't that great; although some pictures may turn out a little grainy.
* There's no video application yet to shoot your own videos.
* There are claims that the Pre will run flash.
* The apps will be coded in standard CSS, XML, and JavaScript, which means there is very little, if any learning curve for those who know coding
Palm Pre Features:
* Connected calendars and contacts: Outlook, Google, and FacebookŪ calendars, all of which can be linked together.
* Notifications bar: Text messages, calendar appointments, emails, etc. appear as notifications at the bottom of the screen.
* Universal search: You can narrow your search in your contacts, applications, Google, Wikipedia, etc.
* Email, Wi-Fi, and GPS: Get email from Outlook, Gmail, AOL, and Yahoo!; take advantage of Wi-Fi hotspots and look up directions using the GPS
* Multiple activities: Leave multiple applications up at any time and move between them. Your open applications are like "activity cards," allowing you to flip through them or throw them off the screen.
* Browser and Integrated Applications: Use the fast browser to search your favorite blogs and websites; check out numerous apps designed for Palm webOS- you can even use the platform to buy movie tickets because it words hand-in-hand with the applications.
* Combined messaging: Using Palm Synergy, you can group all of your conversations with the same person together in one view, even if you're texting and IM-ming the same person.
* Breakthrough design: You can slide out the keyboard for easier texting, or close it and rotate the phone for easier viewing of websites, pictures, video, and music play.
