Digital cameras are great and wonderful and all, but they're a pain when it comes to getting the pictures developed. If you go to Target, Wal*Mart, or some other location with a digital picture printer, you're going to pay at least 10 cents a print, sometimes more, which can get rather pricey. I've done it, and don't really like to spend so much money just to get my vacation pictures printed.
An easier way to get your digital pictures printed is with a portable picture printer. There are different types, designs, and brands of the picture printers, so when you're shopping around, you'll want to consider the different features and prices.
Most of the newer models will feature a small LCD screen so that you can view you image, as well as red-eye correction. The main thing that you want to watch out for is how long the ink cartridges will last; also consider whether or not the ink cartridges are reusable and refillable.
When choosing a picture printer for your digital cameras, I, personally, would stick with HP and Sony, but that doesn't mean that the other brands aren't just as good. Some of the other brands actually have the same features and pretty good reviews; I'm just a bigger fan of HP and Sony.
When choosing a portable picture printer, you'll want to consider the price of the picture printer, lifespan of the ink cartridges, media card options, USB options, LCD preview, red-eye correction, picture resolution, and any other features that you may be looking for. Some of the picture printers even have carrying options with a handle so that they are truly portable.
