USB Plasma Ball

I know that we've all seen a plasma ball. I mean, they've been around since the eighties to say the least. But, now, you can purchase a plasma ball for your computer. It plugs into your USB port and is definitely a must have for your desk.
When powered by your USB cable, which is included, the Plasma Ball stands about 6 inches tall and even has an on/off switch. The current is very low, but it has a relatively high voltage power, which produces some EMF.
If you're curious if it really works, it does. Basically, there is a combination of gasses trapped inside the plastic sphere at low pressures. As the USB powers the relatively high voltages of current to the sphere, the electrons within the center are stripped from the gasses, which leaves positively charged ions and the gases, which create the gorgeous designs.
The high voltage served up through the electrode in the center arcs up through the plasma to the lower voltage edge of the plastic sphere. When you touch the outside of the sphere, the arcs congregate to your touch because you're creating even lower voltage jumps from the electrode.
So, yes, the USB Plasma Ball does work just like the 80s versions.
If you're interested, Amazon has the USB Plasma Ball for $15-$16.
